Slade comes by Phillips, an ex-con he sent to jail, and who has lost his right hand. The former gunfighter has hired a young colleague to kill Slade. The sheriff's daughter and some citizens offer to pay Slade's fee to get rid of Phillips and his minions. Phillips has laid out a scheme to grab lands  pretending he is the long-lost brother of the town founder.
